| R*E*P*E*A*T Fanzine - May 2003 Three Ways West : White Man's Paradise (http://www.threewayswest.co.uk) A perfect way to end this jam packed, opinionated issue of R*E*P*E*A*T. Three Ways West come from Burnley, a splintered industrial town let down by New Labour and so preyed on by the Nazis who have now wormed their way onto the council.''White Man's Paradise'' is an outcry of disgust at the situation the band, their families and friends find themselves in. They use hard rocking grunge to articulate their rage, and sound a bit like how a low budget Mudhoney may have sounded if they'd come from North West England in 2003. Not very original, perhaps, but that's not the point - they have big songs and big choruses and big hearts, and as I sit one week away from a local election which looks like seeing a record number of BNP councillors being elected, Three Ways West are just the sort of raw kick up the ass of inertia that Burnley (and indeed the whole country) needs right now. Fight the Power!!! |
